Tomislav Šola - Biografija

Strukovnu karijeru započeo je kao kustos (1975-81) u, danas, Muzeju suvremene umjetnosti (Galerija primitivne umjetnosti).Od 1981 do 1988 je bio direktor Muzejskog dokumentacijskog centra u Zagrebu gdje je bio glavni i odgovorni urednik časopisa "Informatica Museologica", te zbornika "Muzeologija". Objavio je jednu umjetničku monografiju (Ivan Lacković), brojne predgovore katalozima, te članke o umjetnicima i izložbama (52). Od 1980 piše pretežno o temama iz muzeologije i muzejske prakse. Napisao je knjigu "Essays on Museums and their theory - towards the cybernetic museum" (Finnish Museums Association, Helsinki, 1997). Za tu je knjigu 1998. dobio nagradu "J.J.Strossmayer" HAZU. 2003. godine knjiga je prevedena i izdana u proširenom izdanju u Zagrebu. Objavio je i poglavlja u pet knjiga izdanih u Velikoj Britaniji, te oko 265 radova u strukovnim časopisima i novinama. Hrvatsko Muzejsko društvo izdalo mu je knjigu "Marketing u muzejima ili o vrlini i kako je obznaniti" koja je 2002 primila godišnje priznanje struke. Neki radovi prevedeni su, ukupno, na jedanaest jezika. Sudjelovao je vlastitim prilogom na 20-tak međunarodnih skupova u 17 zemalja diljem svijeta.
Profesor Šola je održao oko 200 sati pozivnih predavanja u brojnim zemljama (Indija, Finska, Švedska, Kanada, Španjolska, Čehoslovačka, Slovenija, Francuska, Turska, V. Britanija, Srbija, Danska, Velika Britanija). Regularno je, više godina, predavao na Međunarodnoj ljetnoj školi muzeologije u Brnu (ISSOM/Unesco), na Sveučilištu u Ljubljani (postdiplomski) i na Školi za Evropsku baštinu u Barceloni (gdje je bio i član Akademskog odbora). Danas još predaje na Univerzi umetnosti u Beogradu (Postgraduate Studies in Cultural Management and Cultural Policy in the Balkans (Francuska vlada, UNESCO, Paris IX etc.). U Finskoj (Jyvaskyla) je osnovao (1990) Međunarodnu školu za studij baštine (ISSHS). U istom gradu je započeo projekt centra za baštinu "To je Finska".
2004. postao predsjednik Zajednice za kulturni turizam pri Hrvatskoj gospodarskoj komori.
Od ožujka 2005 odlukom Nacionalnog vijeća za znanost dr. sc. Tomislav Šola član je matičnog odbora za polje informacijskih znanosti.


Prof. Šola began his museum career as curator (1975-81) at what is today the Museum of Contemporary Art Zagreb. From 1981 till 1988 he served as Director of the Museum Documentation Centre (Zagreb) and Editor-in-Chief of the magazine "Informatica Museologica," and "Museology", the only publication of its kind in former Yugoslavia. Author of art monograph (Ivan Lacković), numerous forewords and introductions at catalogues as well as articles about artists and exhibitions (52). From 1980 onward has written extensively on the subject of museology and museum practice. Prof. Šola is the author of the book "Essays on Museums and their theory - towards the cybernetic museum" (Finnish Museums Association, Helsinki, 1997), the book awarded in 1998 by the Croatian Academy of Arts and Sciences ("J.J.Strossmayer" award) as the book of the year in information sciences. In 2004 the extended version was translated to Croatian and published in Zagreb. In total Professor Šola has published some 265 articles in professional magazines and newspapers, and contributed chapters to five books published in Great Britain. In 2001 Croatian Museum Association has published his book "Marketing in Museums or the virtue and how to make it known", which a year latter received annual professional award. The same book is published also in Belgrade in 2002. Some of the writings of professor Šola have been translated into eleven languages and as an active participant in the field of Museology, Prof. Šola has presented papers in 23 international events in numerous countries. He also lectured widely all over the world-about 200 hours of teaching in total (India, Finland, Sweden, Canada, Spain, Republic of Czech, Republic of Slovakia, Slovenia, France, Turkey, Great Britain, Serbia, Denmark), including regular sessions at ISSOM, Masaryk University in Brno, at University of Ljubljana (postgraduate study) and at European Heritage School in Barcelona, where he served on the Academic board. Today he in part time lecturer at Faculty of Art in Beograd (Postgraduate Studies in Cultural Management and Cultural Policy in the Balkans - French government, UNESCO, Paris IX etc.). In Jyvaskyla, Finland he has founded (1990) International Summer School for Heritage Studies (ISSHS) and started the heritage centre project "This is Finland". In 2004 he became the Chairman of the Association of Cultural Tourism at Croatian Chamber of Commerce. From March 2005 Prof. Tomislav Šola is member of Register Board for the Information Science (National Council of Science).

Organizirao godišnje konferencije triju međunarodnih komiteta svjetske muzejske organizacije (ICOFOM, ICTOP, CIMAM). U Finskoj (Jyvaskyla) osnovao (1990) Međunarodnu školu za studij baštine (ISSHS). U dva mandata predsjednik Nacionalnog komiteta ICOM/UNESCO (1981-1987), jedan od pet izabranih članova Izvršnog savjeta te svjetske organizacije (1983-1986), i član Izvršnog odbora (ICOFOM/ICOM). Autor je nekoliko projekata obnove ili izgradnje muzeja: Muzej Narodnog parka Triglav, Muzej novejše zgodovine (Ljubljana), Pokrajinski muzej (Maribor), Tehnički muzej (Zagreb) Autor je projekta "Slovenianum" (Ljubljana), te ideje i prve faze projekta (1999)"Mostovi -virtualni muzej Evrope" (Bonn). 2003/04 je izradio koncepciju Židovskog kulturnog centra u Zagrebu, 2004-2005 savjetnik je Vlade Crne Gore u reorganizaciji brige za baštinu. Najnoviji radovi uključuju projekte na reorganizaciji Narodnog muzeja u Zadru, Muzeja vjetra u Istri i Muzeja iseljeništva (Zagreb). 2002. osnovao je nevladinu organizaciju "Evropska udruga za baštinu". Autor je koncepta i organizator godišnje manifestacije "The Best in Heritage" u Dubrovniku (www.TheBestInHeritage.com), te bienalne manifestacije "Excellence Club" koja se održava u sklopu Koelnmesse's sajma Exponatec u Koelnu, Njemačka. Poklonik inovacije i "proučavanja" budućnosti: autor desetak nerealiziranih projekata muzeja, atrakcija, experience industry projekata...


In addition to his conference participation, Prof. Šola has organised annual conferences of the three international committees of the international museum organisation ICOM (ICOFOM, ICTOP, CIMAM). He was the founder (1990) and Programme Director of International Summer School for Heritage Studies (ISSHS) in Jyvaskyla, Finland. He has occupied important offices within the museum profession, both nationally and internationally, including the chairmanship of the National Committee of ICOM/UNESCO (1981-'87), a seat on the Executive Council of ICOM (1983-'86), and the Board membership in ICOFOM (International Committee of Museology /ICOM). Prof. Šola is the author of numerous museums projects (new or project of redevelopment) including: Museum of National Park Triglav, Museum of Recent History (Ljubljana), Regional Museum (Maribor), Technical Museum (Zagreb). He is the author of "Slovenianum" project (Ljubljana) and of the idea and the first phase of the project "Bridges - the Virtual Museum of Europe" (further developed by "Haus der Geschichte") in Bonn, Germany. 2003/04 he developed draft for Jew Cultural Centre in Zagreb, and during 2004-2005 acted as advisor to government of Republic of Montenegro regarding reorganization and heritage care management. The most recent museum / heritage projects include work on programming of People's Museum in Zadar, Wind museum in Istra and Museum of Diaspora (Zagreb). In 2002 he has founded non governmental organisation "European Heritage Association". He has conceived and is organising the international annual event "The Best in Heritage" in Dubrovnik, Croatia (www.TheBestInHeritage.com) and the biennale manifestation "Excellence Club", complementary professional event of the Koelnmesse's Fair Exponatec in Cologne, Germany. Professor Šola is follower of the innovation and peruse of future: author of dozen unrealized museum projects, attractions, experience industry projects...
